The Electric Car Scheme's mission is to speed up the transition to electric vehicles through employee benefits. The Electric Car Scheme helps people switch to electric cars. We set up salary sacrifice schemes for small businesses to allow their employees access to electric cars in the cheapest way possible. Employees can save 30%- 60% on any electric car by leasing it through their employer - paying out of their salary before tax. The UK government is supporting the switch to electric by providing these tax incentives. The Electric Car Scheme makes it hassle-free, risk-free, and cost-free for small businesses to pass on these savings to their employees.  In short, we do for electric cars what the ‘Cycle to Work Scheme’ did for bicycles. The Electric Car Scheme is the first offering from Net Zero Choices. We believe that each person wants to make choices to achieve a net zero future. People are limited by information, access, price and complexity - this is slowing down progress globally. We strive to create ‘no brainer’ decisions for everyone to transition to net zero, at an affordable cost. The Electric Car Scheme is founded by Thom & Tom (ex-Funding Circle and The AA) and is backed by a Seedcamp (early investors in Revolut and Transferwise) as well as angel investors including founders of Monzo, GumTree, Peakon, ComplyAdvantage, Look After My Bills and Funding Circle. **The role:** As one of the first permanent hires in our tech team, you’ll be working directly alongside our CTO and a couple of skilled agency developers. You’ll be working across the stack to ensure we can scale the business effectively and deliver a slick experience to our internal and external users. Our codebase is still in its early stages, so you’ll have the chance to really shape how and what we build. That said, we are already scaling up and have served over 50,000 electric car quotes to prospective customers. We’ve raised funds from the same investors as Revolut and Wise (formerly TransferWise), and we’re looking to scale the business through a combination of automation and key hires. We have a strong customer focus and want to ensure that is reflected in the software we build. **You will:** - Utilise well-established technologies to build predictable, reliable systems - Devise strategies to manage size and complexity as the system grows and customer base expands - Help to refine our testing strategy - Collaborate closely with leadership and domain experts to develop a deep understanding of the business - Be closely involved in determining our technology roadmap - Help build our team as the company grows, and mentor junior hires - Bonus: have an interest in implementing Domain Driven Design and / or event driven systems **What you bring to the role:** - Expertise in at least one major programming language - 2+ years building web applications in a corporate or startup environment - Experience implementing effective testing strategies at various levels of granularity - Effective at diagnosing bugs and performance issues - High level of autonomy and motivation to deliver quickly - Ability to communicate technical concepts in a way that non-technical people can understand **Current tech stack** Ruby, Rails, Javascript, React; Postgres, AWS S3; CircleCI; Heroku. **What we offer:** - Compensation - competitive salary, pension & incentive scheme to share in our success - Flexible working arrangements - work how you work best - Equity options scheme - become an owner in the business as we grow - Holidays - 25 days holiday plus bank holidays - Electric Car Scheme itself! - through salary sacrifice for the provision of an electric car, either subscription or lease, getting the benefits of what we offer! - Personal growth - join us as an early employee with a wide range of responsibilities, opportunity for career growth and a flat company structure - Culture, benefits and more - take a lead role in shaping our culture, benefits packages and employee engagement as we build our business
